Group therapy is often more impactful than individual sessions and can be a fraction of the cost. It can sound scary to talk in front of a group, but the facilitator/s will help everyone feel safe and relaxed. In groups, participants are learning not just from the facilitator/s, but also from each other. The level of support and belonging goes beyond what individual therapy can offer.
Comprehensive Behavioral Interventions for Tics is the recommended treatment for Tourette and Tic Disorder. It is a management strategy with a very high success rate for decreasing tics. Since there is no cure for Tourette and tic disorders, those impacted can learn to decrease their overall stress, and practice suppression techniques to use at their will. Children can be taught the techniques as young as 8 or younger depending on their willingness.
